Welcome to the Performance and Sport Science Study Group, where we show how sport science is applied in real-world scenarios.  We invite speakers who complement the NSCA’s Essentials of Sport Science textbook, demonstrating how the NSCA CPSS chapter concepts are applied in real-world scenarios! Today Dr. Ramsey Nijem, Director of Sport Performance for Kansas Men’s Basketball, presents on his "Coach's Guide to CMJ Force Plate Metrics."

The session covers the different phases of a countermovement jump on a force plate. Ramsey explains a framework that makes force plates and their metrics easy to understand. He provides 3 common use cases for the force plates: 1) monitoring, 2) player profiling, and 3) return to play. For those 3 use cases he explains his 10 most used force plate metrics.
